About this role
The OpenAI Life Sciences team is building the Rosalind Workbench, a central environment that integrates scientific tools, data sources, interactive biology file viewers, and core life sciences workflows. This product helps academic researchers, biotech teams, and pharmaceutical scientists investigate questions, design experiments, analyze results, and advance discovery using frontier models like GPT-Rosalind.
As a product manager, you will own the strategy and execution for the Rosalind Workbench, partnering directly with laboratory experts, engineers, researchers, and designers. You will translate ambiguous research challenges into shippable experiences while driving enterprise readiness, security, and compliance for life sciences organizations.
Ideal candidates bring a combination of substantive life sciences experience, strategic judgment, and a hands-on builder mindset. People who thrive here are comfortable prototyping ideas with technical tools, building rigorous evaluation frameworks, and navigating the complexities of responsible AI access in regulated research environments.
What you will do
- Define the product roadmap and strategy for the Rosalind Workbench to prioritize high-impact workflows in discovery biology, verification, and contract research organization management.
- Collaborate with engineering, research, and design teams to transform complex scientific models and data into intuitive, expert-grade tools.
- Validate concepts directly with scientists by building prototypes with internal tools and models before allocating engineering resources.
- Work alongside safeguards, policy, and go-to-market teams to integrate responsible access and researcher onboarding into product workflows.
- Handle enterprise requirements for pharmaceutical and biotech organizations, including data protection, administrative controls, and system integrations.
- Manage the product lifecycle from initial discovery through launch, iteration, and adoption with commercial partners.
- Incorporate scientific rigor into features through reproducible analyses, visible uncertainty metrics, and traceable evidence.
What you need
- Demonstrated history of shipping complex products from zero to one and scaling their adoption or commercial success.
- Substantive domain expertise in life sciences acquired through academic research, industry roles, or building tools for scientists.
- Strong technical judgment with the ability to reason about data integrations, model limitations, and reliable scientific workflows.
- Experience building model evaluations or benchmarks for scientific or agentic use cases to assess reliability and validity.
- Track record of collaborating effectively across engineering, design, scientific, and commercial teams.
- Understanding of data governance, compliance, and responsible access within regulated research or pharma environments.
