Role Overview

Cognition seeks a remote QA Engineer for the APAC region to take charge of end-to-end product quality for advanced AI workflows. This full-time position is an ideal fit for a detail-oriented testing professional with a developer mindset who wants to build autonomous software agents.

Key Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end product quality for AI workflows, testing Windsurf and Devin through onboarding, chat interactions, multi-file edits, agentic execution, and autonomous workflows.
Design and execute comprehensive test strategies, covering functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and E2E test plans across product releases.
Break down intricate user flows into testable scenarios to uncover edge cases, race conditions, state recovery issues, and production-like usage patterns.
Reproduce, document, and debug issues across different layers to isolate UI defects, system issues, or unexpected AI behavior.
Partner closely with engineering and product teams to define quality standards, set release readiness criteria, and ensure high standards for developers.
Establish scalable QA playbooks, test processes, and automation frameworks to support rapid product scaling and CI/CD practices.

Requirements

Bring at least 5 years of professional QA or Test Engineering experience focusing on complex product workflows, multi-step journeys, and E2E behavior.
Demonstrate deep expertise in exploratory, functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
Possess a strong developer mindset with comfort reading and writing code in languages such as Python and TypeScript.
Apply a user-first testing approach that mirrors real-world usage rather than relying solely on specifications.
Exhibit exceptional attention to detail, robust debugging instincts, and precise communication skills for bug reporting and triage.
Maintain familiarity with test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and fast-moving release environments.
Offer schedule flexibility with required overlap for US time zones and potential weekend availability during key release cycles.

Nice to Have

Prior experience testing AI-driven products that feature non-deterministic outputs.
Background in testing developer tools, command-line interfaces, or IDE plugins and extensions like VS Code.
Familiarity with modern AI coding tools such as Devin, Cursor, Copilot, or Windsurf.
A prior software engineering background that includes shipped production code.
