About this role

The Defense Factory team builds infrastructure that enables AI agents to work in secure, customer-controlled cloud environments, helping enterprises find and fix security vulnerabilities with artificial intelligence. Backend-focused Product Engineers build the services, APIs, and workflows that allow developers and autonomous agents to operate reliably in parallel across complex cloud systems.

Daily responsibilities involve developing Go services for provisioning cloud environments, managing long-running task orchestration, and integrating with developer tools while ensuring rigorous security and auditability. The position suits product-minded engineers who value customer interaction, possess strong distributed systems expertise, and want to own technical solutions from initial discovery through production operation.

What you will do

  • Collaborate directly with customers to construct developer and security workflows spanning project setup, finding investigation, agent change reviews, and fix verification.
  • Develop Go services and APIs responsible for provisioning cloud infrastructure, running agents within customer environments, and integrating with source control and CI tools.
  • Engineer reliable orchestration mechanisms for parallel, long-running tasks that incorporate durable state, retries, cancellation, and recovery.
  • Embed robust security practices into execution pipelines through clear permission models, credential management, workload isolation, and auditability.
  • Maintain production standards by handling testing, safe deployments, observability, system performance, and operational reliability.
  • Partner with design and frontend colleagues to translate intricate backend capabilities into straightforward user experiences.

What you need

  • Bring strong Go programming skills alongside demonstrated experience building and operating production backend systems.
  • Understand distributed systems concepts, concurrency, and state management while knowing how to reason through failures and recovery.
  • Possess practical familiarity with Linux, container technologies, cloud infrastructure, and networking fundamentals like routing, DNS, and secure connectivity.
  • Demonstrate the ability to design clear application programming interfaces and data models that simplify complex workflows.
  • Maintain a product-driven mindset focused on staying close to users, understanding requirements, and driving solutions from discovery to launch.
  • Communicate technical decisions clearly and collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines and physical locations.

Nice to have

  • Experience building on AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Depth in developer platforms, workflow engines, Kubernetes, networking, or sandboxing
  • Familiarity with identity systems, security products, or AI-agent workflows
  • Frontend development experience

Benefits

  • Offers Equity
