About this role
You will lead the end-to-end design of new consumer experiences across emerging verticals, exploring how ChatGPT should adapt to different contexts and translating complex model capabilities into clear product interactions. Working within the Consumer Verticals team alongside research, engineering, and product management, you will build intuitive consumer products for areas like health and finance while establishing scalable design patterns.
This is a generative, zero-to-one capacity where you will move fluidly between broad product vision and detailed interaction design. You will build prototypes that help cross-functional teams learn quickly while navigating sensitive domains where trust, accuracy, safety, and user agency remain essential priorities.
Successful candidates will possess substantial experience shipping consumer software at scale and thrive in environments defined by ambiguity. A strong background in translating complex technical capabilities into clear, responsible product behaviors is well-suited for this position.
What you will do
- Shape product and design direction for consumer experiences across health, finance, and general agentic verticals.
- Design and ship high-quality products from early concepts and prototypes through final visual execution.
- Define how ChatGPT behaves in different domains while maintaining a coherent experience.
- Explore new interaction models for AI systems that understand context and take action on behalf of users.
- Partner with research, engineering, product management, and safety teams to build responsible products.
- Conduct and apply user research to address distinct vertical needs, expectations, and risks.
- Balance specialized domain requirements with reusable patterns to accelerate future product development.
What you need
- Substantial experience designing and shipping high-quality consumer software at scale.
- Exceptional UX, UI, and interaction design skills with a high bar for craft throughout every stage of the work.
- Strong product thinking capability to explore broadly, develop a point of view, and turn ambiguity into clear direction.
- Demonstrated history of leading zero-to-one initiatives or introducing new product categories and behaviors.
- Ability to simplify complex systems without hiding details users need for informed decision-making.
- Strong instincts regarding trust, safety, transparency, and user control in consequential experiences.
