Role Overview

The Principal Solutions Architect, APJC (Developer Platform) role at Cloudflare is a senior individual contributor position based in Singapore, operating on a hybrid work model. This role is ideal for an experienced technical leader who excels at guiding regional strategies, mentoring colleagues, and partnering with strategic customers and partners.

Key Responsibilities

Shape regional technical strategy for strategic Developer Platform customers and partners across APJC and Greater China.
Transform complex business, application, security, and operational requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable architectures on Cloudflare.
Partner with engineering executives and senior stakeholders to advise on application modernization, distributed systems, AI architecture, and platform strategy.
Lead architecture discovery sessions, technical workshops, proofs of concept, design reviews, and production-readiness discussions.
Establish reference architectures, architectural standards, and governance patterns to empower customers and the field organization.
Build, review, and troubleshoot representative applications and integrations to stay hands-on with the technology.
Serve as a principal technical leader through public speaking, presentations, written guidance, and internal enablement.
Mentor and develop solutions architects and technical colleagues navigating complex customer engagements.
Create continuous feedback loops between customers, field teams, and product leaders to translate regional needs into product recommendations.

Requirements

Strong background in solutions architecture, software engineering, technical consulting, or a related customer-facing technical role, typically demonstrated by 15+ years of experience.
Professional fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese, enabling leadership of technical and executive discussions for clients in the Greater China region.
Track record of guiding complex technical strategies involving developers, infrastructure teams, security stakeholders, and senior executives.
Deep working knowledge of distributed application architecture covering compute, storage, networking, security, reliability, and observability.
Software development experience, including the ability to build or review production-quality applications and proofs of concept.
Strong understanding of modern web technologies, serverless and cloud-native architectures, software delivery practices, and at least one major public cloud platform.
Proven ability to influence without direct authority, mentor colleagues, and convert individual solutions into shared organizational capabilities.
Excellent written, presentation, and facilitation skills suited for developer, architectural, and executive audiences.
Ability to travel up to 30%, primarily within APJC and mainland China.

Nice to Have

Experience building and operating production applications on Cloudflare’s Developer Platform.
Experience designing AI inference, agentic, retrieval-augmented generation, or data-intensive applications.
Familiarity with customers, technology partners, or developer communities in Greater China.
Background in public speaking, technical writing, open-source contribution, or community leadership.
Relevant cloud or architecture certifications.
A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
