Role Overview

AlphaSense is seeking a Principal Engineer, Developer Experience (DevEx) to join the team remotely across the United States. This strategic position involves shaping and driving a holistic developer experience strategy across the entire organization to help engineers build software with high velocity and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Define and evolve the overall DevEx strategy in partnership with engineering leadership.
Connect and align efforts across Core DX (inner loop tools and local development) and Cloud/Platform DX (outer loop CI/CD and production systems).
Establish and standardize developer productivity metrics and engineering insights, such as DORA and DX.
Guide the evolution of internal developer platforms and self-service capabilities across multiple teams.
Drive consistency, speed, and reliability in CI/CD delivery workflows.
Lead the adoption of AI-enabled Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices to transform how software is built, tested, and operated.
Partner with engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, and platform teams to influence direction and guide technical execution without direct authority.

Requirements

Extensive background in DevEx, Platform Engineering, and large-scale engineering systems.
Deep operational and systems thinking backed by a strong software engineering foundation.
Proven track record of defining and driving cross-organizational technical strategy.
Strong experience working across domains like cloud, platform, CI/CD, and developer tooling.
Hands-on experience with internal developer platforms and self-service ecosystems.
Deep understanding of developer productivity metrics and engineering insights.
Demonstrated ability to align multiple stakeholders and teams.
Recent experience adopting or driving AI-enabled development workflows across the SDLC.
Excellent communication and influencing skills.
Experience with cloud-native architectures and Kubernetes-based platforms.
Familiarity with progressive delivery practices, such as canary releases and feature flags, as well as frontend platforms or microfrontend architectures.

Eastern Standard Time (EST) or United Kingdom timezone to allow closer overlap with direct team members.

Salary and Benefits

The base compensation range for this role is $246,000 to $339,000 USD. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate expertise and experience. Additional offerings may include a performance-based bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits program.
