Translating early consumer hardware concepts into reliable, large-scale production requires bridging the gap between product design and global manufacturing. OpenAI needs an Operations Manager to own the execution and strategy that moves consumer AI hardware seamlessly from prototype to customer, ensuring supply chain, cost, and schedule alignment across fast-moving programs.
Working within the Consumer Products team in Singapore, the incoming manager will lead cross-functional planning and manage vendor relationships to support high-volume manufacturing. What you will do
- Develop and execute comprehensive operations strategies that connect early product design with large-scale manufacturing operations.
- Drive build readiness and production planning initiatives starting from the prototype stage all the way through to mass production.
- Partner directly with global suppliers to guarantee that required materials, tooling, and capacity fulfill program goals.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, quality, and supply chain teams to establish robust and reliable operational systems.
- Track performance metrics related to cost, yield, and schedule to ensure efficient and predictable product delivery.
- Build scalable processes capable of supporting rapid iteration cycles and upcoming consumer product launches.
What you need
- Bring six or more years of professional experience working in hardware operations, manufacturing, or supply chain roles within consumer electronics or comparable industries.
- Demonstrate a track record of successfully guiding at least one hardware product through the entire lifecycle from concept to mass production.
- Show fluency in new product introduction processes, contract manufacturing dynamics, and global operations management.
- Possess strong analytical and communication capabilities to successfully navigate ambiguity and drive cross-functional alignment.
- Demonstrate motivation for building new systems at the intersection of design, engineering, and execution.
