Key Responsibilities

Design and write high-performing, scalable software dedicated to training advanced models.
Create new tools designed to accelerate and support research as well as large language model training.
Coordinate closely with multiple engineering divisions, including Infrastructure, Efficiency, and Serving, alongside scientific teams focused on agents, multimodal systems, and multilingual initiatives.
Craft and implement techniques that improve system performance and speed up training cycles across supervised fine-tuning, offline preference, and reinforcement learning regimes.
Research, implement, and experiment with novel ideas utilizing cluster and data infrastructure.
Collaborate continuously with fellow scientists, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

Extremely strong software engineering capabilities.
Appreciation for test-driven development methods, clean code, and the reduction of technical debt.
Proficiency in Python alongside related machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, XLA, or MLIR.
Practical experience utilizing and debugging large-scale distributed training strategies, including speed and memory profiling.

Nice to Have

Experience working with distributed training infrastructures like Kubernetes and associated frameworks such as Ray.
Hands-on background in the post-training phase of model creation with an emphasis on performance and scalability.
Previous involvement in academic research concerning machine learning, large language models, or reinforcement learning.

Annual salary ranging from 250,000 to 535,000 CAD.
