About this role
Guiding customer engineering organizations through software development transformation, the team builds AI-enabled workflows and integrates Codex into production environments. Team members work hands-on with strategic accounts to design architectures, solve complex implementation challenges, and establish repeatable technical patterns for AI-powered development.
Operating as both a people leader and senior technical advisor, the manager sets strategy, coaches engineers, and determines where the group can achieve maximum impact. Cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Product, Research, and Engineering translates real-world usage and customer feedback into improved technical approaches and product insights. Success relies on driving sustained Codex adoption, delivering strong customer outcomes, and building a high-performing technical organization from the ground up.
What you will do
- Lead, hire, and mentor a team of Applied AI Engineers supporting Codex customers across strategic accounts.
- Define the engagement strategy and operating model to help clients move from initial exploration to scaled adoption.
- Guide technical teams in designing agentic systems, automated evaluations, and AI-enhanced software workflows.
- Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex architectural challenges during customer implementations.
- Collaborate with internal product, research, and sales departments to align customer feedback with the product roadmap.
- Develop reusable reference architectures, playbooks, and best practices for AI-driven software development.
What you need
- Bring over eight years of experience in technical customer-facing roles such as solutions architecture or applied engineering.
- Demonstrate at least two years of leadership experience managing, mentoring, and hiring engineering talent.
- Show practical background in building generative AI, developer platforms, or cloud-based software in production.
- Possess strong software engineering capabilities with fluency in programming languages like Python or JavaScript.
- Understand modern software development lifecycles and how AI coding agents alter software design and maintenance.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both engineering practitioners and executive stakeholders.
