To address this challenge, OpenAI requires a leader to manage the Applied AI Architect team in Bangalore, guiding the organization's largest customers through complex technical journeys. This leadership position shapes the operating model for technical account strategies across ChatGPT Enterprise, the OpenAI API, Codex, and agentic AI solutions.
The incoming manager acts as an executive technical sponsor and a critical bridge between customers and internal divisions such as Sales, Product, Engineering, and Research. Responsibilities include setting regional technical strategies, prioritizing customer portfolios, and coaching a team of senior technical leaders to ensure durable customer adoption and responsible AI deployment. Ideal candidates combine deep architectural expertise in modern AI systems with substantial experience managing customer-facing technical teams and communicating effectively with C-suite stakeholders.
What you will do
- Hire, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Applied AI Architects to ensure technical excellence and strong customer stewardship.
- Define the strategy and operating model for Applied AI Architecture teams in alignment with regional go-to-market priorities.
- Partner with Sales leadership and Account Directors to prioritize accounts, allocate technical resources, and establish technical strategies.
- Lead complex customer journeys that connect executive vision with use-case qualification, solution evaluation, and enterprise governance.
- Build trusted relationships with C-suite and board-level stakeholders while serving as an executive technical sponsor.
- Mobilize Deployment Engineering, Product, Research, Security, and legal specialists to remove blockers and deliver cohesive experiences.
- Translate field patterns into actionable feedback for Product, Engineering, and Research teams while developing reusable architecture guidance.
What you need
- Possess deep technical acumen in modern AI systems, frontier models, agentic applications, platform technologies, and enterprise deployment.
- Bring 10+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles such as solutions architecture or technical consulting within large enterprises.
- Have 4+ years of people-management experience hiring, coaching, and developing customer-facing technical teams.
- Demonstrate outstanding executive communication and presentation skills with the ability to build credibility with senior technology leaders.
- Exercise strong architectural judgment, resource-allocation skills, and the ability to balance regional strategy with hands-on support.
