Role Overview

HappyRobot is hiring a remote Machine Learning Engineer in Spain to build advanced AI models that enable human-like conversations. This position is well-suited for a dedicated machine learning expert who wants to shape core products and lead AI innovation in a growing enterprise infrastructure startup.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable machine learning systems covering data ingestion, preprocessing, training, testing, and deployment.
Develop and optimize end-to-end machine learning pipelines for data collection, labeling, training, validation, and monitoring to ensure reliability.
Implement robust MLOps practices, including model versioning, experiment tracking, continuous integration and deployment for machine learning, and production monitoring.
Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to integrate and deploy models into real-time products focusing on efficiency and scalability.
Guarantee data quality, observability, and performance across all operational artificial intelligence systems.
Keep up to date with emerging artificial intelligence infrastructure, tooling, and research to maintain a competitive technological edge.

Requirements

Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing.
Solid experience in MLOps and data pipelines, including deploying, monitoring, and scaling models in production.
Proficiency in Python programming alongside familiarity with Go.
Experience utilizing machine learning lifecycle management tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, or Weights & Biases.
Capability to design machine learning systems focused on robustness, scalability, and automation.
Excellent coding, debugging, and data engineering abilities.
Genuine passion for artificial intelligence infrastructure and creating real-world impacts.
A founder mindset characterized by ownership, independence, and a willingness to tackle deep technical challenges.

Nice to Have

Background in speech recognition, text-to-speech, or audio processing technologies.
Familiarity with large language models, generative AI, or real-time inference systems.
Practical experience using data orchestration frameworks like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
Previous background working within fast-paced startup environments.
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure including AWS, GCP, or Azure alongside containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
