Role Overview

The ITAV Deployment Engineer at OpenAI oversees the delivery of audiovisual systems for new office builds, expansions, and equipment refreshes. Responsibilities span from project inception through delivery, commissioning, and final acceptance by support teams. The role collaborates closely with Network Engineering, Workplace Design and Construction, and Capital Builds to align requirements and manage vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver audiovisual build packages using approved room standards and installation designs for office expansions and new locations.
Manage the audiovisual workstream for construction projects, coordinating schedules, vendor deliverables, and site access with cross-functional partners.
Review technical drawings, equipment lists, and integrator plans to flag missing prerequisites and design exceptions prior to installation.
Configure audio processing, Q-SYS controls, AV-over-IP connections, and conferencing endpoints to meet design specifications.
Coordinate networking details such as IP addressing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and port records alongside Network Engineering.
Commission rooms entirely by testing audio, video, control, and recovery against documented acceptance criteria.
Track installation failures using a prioritized punch list, retest fixes, and secure operational handoffs by training receiving technicians.
Automate repeatable deployment tasks using basic scripting, AI, and agentic workflows while maintaining reusable templates.

Requirements

Hands-on background installing, configuring, and commissioning enterprise conference room audiovisual systems from technical designs.
Familiarity with reading signal-flow drawings, equipment schedules, and installation plans while documenting as-built changes.
Practical experience setting up conferencing platforms and hardware including Cisco, Logitech, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet.
Expertise in troubleshooting and configuring Q-SYS audio and control systems alongside signal routing components.
Working knowledge of AV-over-IP standards like Dante, Q-LAN, and NDI to isolate transport and configuration faults.
Practical networking background covering DHCP, DNS, VLANs, IP addressing, and multicast.
Experience coordinating integrator work, site prerequisites, and commissioning milestones within projects.
Cross-functional collaboration history with workplace construction and design teams.
Strong communication skills paired with the ability to build and maintain automation tools and scripts for deployment tasks.
