About this role
The internal communications team at OpenAI builds programs that help employees stay informed, connected, and engaged while developing safe and impactful artificial intelligence. This professional will focus on the research and product organizations, translating technical milestones, team priorities, and complex research developments into clear, useful communications for staff members. Serving as the second member on this dedicated team, the person in this role will independently own specific communication projects, build trusted relationships with technical stakeholders, and establish practical processes for a fast-moving environment.
Candidates joining the group will coordinate recurring programs, draft leadership updates, produce Slack posts and FAQs, and shape materials for All Hands meetings. Success in this position requires strong writing abilities, technical curiosity, sound judgment, and the capacity to make sense of complex information. Someone who enjoys asking questions, working independently with light guidance on sensitive issues, and collaborating closely with engineers and researchers will thrive in this environment.
What you will do

- Author and edit internal content across multiple channels, including organization updates, leadership announcements, Slack posts, FAQs, and All Hands materials.
- Organize demos, research deep dives, and Q&A sessions while helping shape content and prepare speakers from technical teams.
- Refine communication workflows, editorial plans, templates, and shared resources to maintain timely and accessible information.
- Partner with the manager on major organizational changes and announcements, owning specific workstreams and flagging sensitive dependencies.
