About this role
The team at WRITER builds an end-to-end generative AI platform that helps major enterprise customers orchestrate AI-powered work using secure, custom LLMs and autonomous agents. This infrastructure engineer role focuses on making that platform available, performant, and reliable around the clock while supporting rapid company growth and evolving enterprise demands. The work involves building resilient systems across cloud environments, automating operational tasks, and integrating agentic tooling directly into daily engineering workflows to compound team throughput.
Candidates joining this team will take full ownership of core platform reliability, drive incident responses to root causes, and shape multi-year observability and cost investments. Ideal candidates bring a strong background in large-scale systems, cross-layer technical fluency spanning SRE and DevOps, and practical experience using AI coding assistants in their everyday development loop. Those who thrive here are autonomous problem solvers who prefer simplicity, design out manual toil, and balance tactical fixes with strategic architectural planning.
What you will do
- Design and operate scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure across major cloud providers like AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Automate operational tasks and infrastructure management using Python or Go to eliminate manual toil.
- Lead incident response, post-mortems, and root-cause analyses to prevent repeat system failures.
- Incorporate agentic tooling such as Claude Code or Codex into daily workflows for debugging and scaffolding.
- Own end-to-end reliability, performance, and efficiency metrics for core enterprise services.
- Partner with product, security, and engineering peers to guide system design and platform direction.
What you need
- Five or more years of professional experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles at high-growth product companies.
- Hands-on experience running production containerization clusters using Helm and Terraform on major cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Proficiency in Python or Go for writing automation scripts and internal tooling.
- Active daily use of AI-assisted coding and agentic tooling in current software workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to reason from first principles, manage blast radius, and execute reversible changes.
- Direct experience owning at least one 0-to-1 infrastructure build from inception to production with tied outcome metrics.
Nice to have
- Software engineering background with experience designing and shipping non-trivial production code in Python, Go, or a comparable language.
Benefits
- Generous PTO plus company holidays
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families
- Paid parental leave of 16 weeks for all parents
- Fertility and family planning support
- Early-detection cancer testing through Galleri
