Complex industrial assets in the oil, gas, and chemical sectors often underperform due to undetected operational bottlenecks and reliability issues that traditional software struggles to resolve. To address this, C3 AI employs an Industry Solution Leader focused on Refining and Chemical Asset Performance to bridge the gap between heavy industrial operations and advanced enterprise software applications. This person will direct cross-functional technical teams and work closely with customer engineering groups to design, deploy, and scale data-driven solutions that target equipment reliability, throughput, and energy efficiency.
The ideal candidate brings substantial hands-on experience inside continuous-process facilities like refineries or chemical plants, paired with the technical judgment to evaluate AI-driven recommendations against operational realities. Someone who succeeds here can translate ambiguous industrial problems into structured technical requirements while maintaining clear communication with both plant operators and executive stakeholders.
What you will do
- Manage the overall solution strategy, technical direction, and delivery outcomes for customer engagements from initial problem definition to production deployment.
- Serve as the primary customer-facing domain expert to develop a detailed understanding of customer operations, equipment, and business objectives.
- Identify and quantify high-impact business opportunities across equipment reliability, maintenance, production performance, and energy efficiency.
- Translate complex engineering challenges into structured artificial intelligence, machine learning, and optimization problems with clear success criteria.
- Lead cross-functional teams of forward deployed engineers, data scientists, and product managers to drive alignment around customer outcomes.
- Partner with customer engineers, operators, and executives to validate solution performance, operational workflows, and realized business impact.
- Support sales teams during opportunity assessment by helping define solution approaches, technical requirements, and deployment strategies.
What you need
- Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Bring at least seven years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, operations, reliability, maintenance, or industrial technology.
- Possess deep experience in asset-intensive industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, petrochemicals, or heavy manufacturing.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of industrial equipment, manufacturing processes, process controls, and maintenance practices.
- Have experience working with industrial data including sensor readings, time-series data, equipment states, and maintenance history.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead complex customer-facing technical engagements and collaborate directly with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to structure ambiguous operational problems and drive practical solutions.
Nice to have
- Experience delivering artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced analytics, optimization, or predictive maintenance solutions.
- Hands-on technical experience working with industrial data, SQL, Python, analytics tools, or application configuration.
- Experience with rotating equipment, electrical equipment, production equipment, or complex industrial process units.
- Experience taking technical solutions from initial proof of value through production deployment and scale.
