About this role

Heavy industrial operations often struggle to optimize asset performance and milling processes due to siloed data and complex engineering constraints. C3 AI seeks an Industry Solution Leader focused on Mining and Milling Asset Performance and Optimization to address this challenge by guiding the design and delivery of enterprise artificial intelligence applications for clients. The person in this role will bridge the gap between plant floor realities and digital solutions, working directly with customer engineering, operations, maintenance, and executive teams.

Operating as a senior domain expert, the successful candidate will own customer engagement strategies from initial problem definition through production deployment and scale. Responsibilities include identifying high-impact operational opportunities, defining technical architectures, and leading cross-functional teams of forward-deployed engineers, data scientists, and product personnel. Someone with a strong background in mineral processing or cement operations, deep technical judgment, and a history of leading complex customer-facing deployments will thrive in this environment.

What you will do

  • Manage the overall solution strategy, technical direction, and delivery outcomes for assigned customer engagements from initial problem definition through production deployment.
  • Act as the primary customer-facing domain expert to understand operational constraints, equipment, and business objectives.
  • Identify and quantify high-impact business opportunities across equipment reliability, maintenance, production performance, and energy efficiency.
  • Translate complex engineering challenges into tractable artificial intelligence, machine learning, and optimization problems with clear success criteria.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including forward-deployed engineers, data scientists, and product managers to align technical priorities with customer outcomes.
  • Partner directly with customer engineers, operators, and executives to validate requirements, solution performance, and operational workflows.
  • Support sales teams during opportunity assessment, capture, solution definition, and the development of statements of work.

What you need

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Bring at least seven years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, operations, reliability, maintenance, industrial technology, or technically focused consulting.
  • Demonstrate deep experience in asset-intensive industries such as minerals and mining, heavy manufacturing, metals, or oil and gas.
  • Possess a strong understanding of industrial equipment, manufacturing processes, maintenance practices, and operational workflows.
  • Show hands-on experience working with industrial data, including sensor and time-series data, maintenance history, and production records.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead complex, customer-facing technical engagements and work directly with diverse engineering and executive stakeholders.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills to structure ambiguous problems and drive teams toward practical solutions.

Nice to have

  • Experience delivering AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, optimization, predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, process optimization, or industrial digital transformation solutions.
  • Hands-on technical experience working with industrial data, SQL, Python, analytics tools, application configuration, scripting, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with rotating equipment, electrical equipment, production equipment, manufacturing lines, process units, mining systems, utility assets, or other complex industrial systems.
