Industry Solution Leader - Heavy Industrial (EAF / Mini-Mill Supply Chain and Asset Performance)
About this role
Professionals who thrive at the intersection of heavy industrial operations and advanced enterprise software will find a natural home in this role. The team at C3 AI builds domain-specific software applications that enable the digital transformation of global organizations through integrated artificial intelligence. Working closely with client teams in supply chain, manufacturing, procurement, and executive leadership, this individual will own the design and delivery of enterprise AI solutions tailored to electric arc furnace and mini-mill operations.
This position requires someone capable of stepping directly into heavy manufacturing environments to understand melt-shop throughput, yield, quality, energy, and rolling constraints. By guiding cross-functional teams of forward-deployed engineers, data scientists, and product developers, the solution leader translates complex industrial and supply chain challenges into tractable technical frameworks. Ultimately, the role bridges deep domain expertise with hands-on delivery ownership, helping industrial clients optimize their operational workflows and business outcomes.
What you will do
- Manage the overall solution strategy, technical direction, and delivery outcomes for assigned customer engagements from initial problem definition to production deployment.
- Act as the primary customer-facing solution leader and domain expert, establishing a deep understanding of customer planning processes and operational workflows.
- Identify and quantify high-impact opportunities across demand planning, inventory optimization, production scheduling, procurement, and working capital.
- Translate complex operational challenges into AI, machine learning, and optimization problems with clearly defined constraints and success criteria.
- Lead cross-functional teams of forward-deployed engineers, data scientists, product managers, and industry experts to drive alignment around customer outcomes.
- Partner directly with customer stakeholders ranging from manufacturing teams to executive leadership to validate requirements and business impact.
- Support sales teams during opportunity assessment by helping define customer problems, solution approaches, and deployment strategies.
- Develop repeatable supply chain methodologies, solution patterns, and best practices while representing the company in relevant industry forums.
What you need
- Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, operations research, supply chain management, industrial engineering, computer science, mathematics, economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Bring a minimum of seven years of experience in supply chain, manufacturing, operations, planning, logistics, procurement, pricing, operations research, or technically focused consulting.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience working in an EAF or mini-mill environment with direct exposure to scrap charge, ladle metallurgy, caster, and rolling operations.
- Possess deep familiarity with enterprise supply chain data sourced from ERP, MRP, planning, warehouse management, and transportation management systems.
- Exhibit strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with the ability to reason about tradeoffs, constraints, and optimization objectives.
- Show demonstrated experience leading complex, customer-facing technical engagements and working directly with operational and executive stakeholders.
- Display the ability to structure ambiguous business problems and translate those requirements into technical solutions alongside software engineers and data scientists.
Nice to have
- Experience delivering AI, machine learning, operations research, or mathematical optimization solutions
