About this role

Leading customer engagements from initial problem definition through production, this role involves partnering directly with client teams in manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and executive leadership to drive digital transformation. The individual defines technical solutions, challenges operational assumptions, and collaborates closely with forward deployed engineers and data scientists to deliver measurable business outcomes. C3 AI seeks an industry solution leader specialized in heavy industrial settings, specifically focusing on electric arc furnace and mini-mill supply chain and asset performance.

The position requires someone who combines deep domain expertise with end-to-end ownership of customer solutions. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in melt-shop throughput, yield, quality, energy, downtime, or rolling constraints, along with the technical judgment needed to translate complex manufacturing challenges into tractable AI and optimization applications.

What you will do

  • Manage overall solution strategy, technical direction, and delivery outcomes for assigned client engagements from problem definition to production scale.
  • Serve as the primary customer-facing domain expert to understand operational workflows, planning processes, and business objectives.
  • Translate complex supply chain and manufacturing challenges into structured AI, machine learning, and optimization problems with defined success criteria.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including forward deployed engineers, data scientists, and product managers to drive alignment on customer outcomes.
  • Collaborate directly with client stakeholders across manufacturing, commercial, procurement, and executive teams to validate requirements and business impact.
  • Support sales cycles by helping define customer problems, technical requirements, deployment strategies, and solution demonstrations.

What you need

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Bring at least 7 years of professional experience in supply chain, manufacturing, operations, planning, logistics, procurement, pricing, operations research, or technical consulting.
  • Demonstrate deep expertise in areas such as demand planning, inventory optimization, production planning, manufacturing scheduling, or supply chain network optimization.
  • Possess hands-on experience working in an electric arc furnace or mini-mill environment with exposure to scrap charge, ladle metallurgy, caster, and rolling operations.
  • Show familiarity with enterprise systems such as SAP, Oracle, Kinaxis, Blue Yonder, o9, or similar supply chain platforms.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate trade-offs, constraints, and uncertainty.

Nice to have

  • Experience delivering AI, machine learning, operations research, or mathematical optimization solutions
