Role Overview

Cohere is seeking an experienced Head of Strategic Finance to manage financial planning, business forecasting, product pricing strategy, and fundraising initiatives. Working in San Francisco or remotely, this leadership role requires collaborating with the Chief Financial Officer and the Executive Team to deliver insights that guide corporate strategy, contract negotiations, and growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Direct strategic financial planning, long-term planning, budgeting, forecasting, and support fundraising strategy development.
Work alongside the CFO and Investor Relations to prepare board reporting, investor relations materials, and fundraising documentation.
Execute financial analyses for the Annual Operating Plan, mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, partnerships, and capital market transactions.
Deliver executive recommendations based on financial and strategic implications, while identifying key business drivers and operational risks.
Build detailed ad-hoc models, including sensitivity analysis, scenario modeling, and contingency planning for investment and fundraising decisions.
Coordinate long-term planning processes with the FP&A team, focusing on operational and financial benchmarking.

Requirements

Bring 15 or more years of leadership experience within Strategic Finance, highlighted by a history of building and scaling finance teams in rapid-growth environments.
Demonstrate background operating inside a SaaS or technology company, accompanied by an understanding of enterprise sales cycles, pricing strategies, and AI/ML market dynamics.
Possess advanced knowledge of enterprise-level financial planning systems, data visualization tools, and finance governance frameworks.
Showcase exceptional financial modeling and Excel skills, covering valuation, M&A, capital markets, and fundraising.
Exhibit executive-level communication skills, with a track record of translating complex financial concepts into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $265,000 to $410,000 USD per year. Full-time employees receive a weekly lunch stipend of $75 or local currency equivalent, comprehensive health and dental coverage including mental health support, retirement savings plans like 401(k) and RRSP matching, and up to 6 months of parental leave top-up. Additional perks include an annual education and learning stipend, enrichment benefits for fitness and wellness, 30 working days of paid vacation, a $500 home office setup stipend, and travel budgets for visiting company offices or annual offsites.
