About this role
Managing the integrated demand, supply, and deployment plan for proprietary AI infrastructure systems forms the core of daily operations in this role. The team sits at the intersection of hardware engineering, infrastructure, supply chain, manufacturing, deployment, and finance to translate infrastructure demand into an executable systems plan. Professionals here connect system demand and site power availability to configurations, XPU requirements, and supply commitments while establishing mechanisms that allow teams to act quickly when conditions change.
OpenAI seeks a systems-level thinker with strong analytical judgment and rigorous program execution capabilities to own this critical infrastructure planning process. Success requires building scalable planning models, surfacing decisions that matter, and driving cross-functional accountability without relying on formal authority. Candidates who thrive in high-ambiguity environments and excel at communicating complex technical dependencies to senior leadership will find a strong fit.
What you will do
- Own the integrated planning process for 1P hardware systems by connecting system demand, deployment timing, site and configuration requirements, power availability, XPU needs, and supply commitments.
- Maintain a decision-ready supply plan that details weekly changes, pull-ins, push-outs, gaps between forecasts and committed supply, and recovery actions with accountable owners.
- Lead weekly deployment and supply reviews focused on material changes, emerging risks, required decisions, and the execution of recovery plans.
- Publish a weekly delta report explaining changes, underlying constraints, and downstream impacts on sites, configurations, power, and supply.
- Coordinate biweekly end-to-end supply updates for leadership and key stakeholders that outline system forecasts, power alignment, and gap closure timelines.
- Partner with hardware engineering, infrastructure, and supply chain teams to pressure-test manufacturing commitments, validate plan executability, and develop risk scenarios.
What you need
- Significant experience in hardware systems planning, supply planning, program management, operations, or a related role supporting complex, high-volume technology products or infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of dependencies among hardware demand, component supply, manufacturing capacity, system configurations, site readiness, power availability, and deployment schedules.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing integrated demand-and-supply plans at weekly granularity, including scenario evaluation and recovery actions.
- Exceptional analytical skills to translate complex datasets and technical dependencies into clear insights, decisions, and actions.
- Strong program leadership experience establishing operating cadences, driving cross-functional accountability, and closing issues across organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams and with senior leadership while tailoring the level of detail to the audience.
Nice to have
