Role Overview

As a Frontier Agents Engineer, the professional will work directly with enterprise customers to build robust AI agents, reasoning architectures, and customer intelligence layers. The role requires navigating the full lifecycle of modern artificial intelligence systems, from initial hypothesis generation and rigorous evaluation to production deployment and continuous learning. Team members will tackle diverse challenges across various industries, collaborating closely with clients to turn ambiguous business problems into scalable technical architectures.

Key Responsibilities

Design and deploy production AI agents leveraging large language models, retrieval systems, memory, planning, and tool use.
Own the full experimentation lifecycle, including offline benchmarks, online A/B tests, human evaluation, and regression suites.
Build agent guardrails, fallback strategies, tracing, monitoring, and evaluation pipelines for high-stakes environments.
Partner directly with enterprise customers to translate business challenges into reliable production AI architectures.
Rapidly prototype new ideas and evolve successful solutions into core capabilities across multiple enterprise deployments.

Requirements

Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in software engineering, machine learning, or applied AI.
Strong proficiency in Python programming.
Demonstrated experience building production artificial intelligence systems utilizing large language models.
Familiarity with modern AI tooling such as OpenAI, Claude, Model Context Protocol, vector databases, and retrieval systems.
Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals and modern language models, backed by experience evaluating systems using quantitative metrics.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate directly with enterprise customers.

Nice to Have

Practical experience building autonomous systems or production AI agents.
Background in retrieval-augmented generation, semantic search, knowledge graphs, and structured knowledge representations.
Knowledge of fine-tuning, distillation, reinforcement learning, small language models, or model optimization.
Experience with distributed production systems, cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience leading technical workshops, architecture reviews, or customer design sessions.

Salary and Benefits

Full-time base salary range for San Francisco and New York is $180,000 to $225,000 USD, determined by experience and location.
