Role Overview

As a Founding GTM Recruiter at Cognition based in Tokyo, this position involves partnering closely with go-to-market leadership across Japan to build robust talent pipelines for various positions. Operating with precision and urgency, the professional in this role will shape markets, map talent, influence hiring strategy, and secure exceptional candidates within highly competitive sectors. The successful individual will act as a true talent advisor rather than an order taker.

Key Responsibilities

Own the entire recruitment lifecycle for go-to-market roles across Singapore and the broader Japan region.
Create comprehensive talent maps across enterprise software, developer tools, cloud, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and high-growth technology companies.
Collaborate with hiring managers to establish role requirements, calibration standards, interview steps, and candidate profiles.
Source, engage, and close top-tier passive candidates using strong sourcing discipline.
Convey the company story dynamically and credibly in the market while delivering an outstanding candidate experience.
Utilize market data and insights to advise leadership regarding pipeline quality, conversion rates, hiring risks, and compensation signals.
Partner with international talent leadership to enhance processes and build scalable recruiting infrastructure across Japan.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience recruiting go-to-market talent for high-growth technology businesses.
Deep familiarity with artificial intelligence, enterprise software, SaaS, cloud, infrastructure, or developer tools markets.
Track record of hiring across Japan and surrounding regions.
Ability to identify, attract, and engage high-caliber passive candidates without relying solely on inbound channels or agencies.
Strong stakeholder management capabilities with the confidence to advise and calibrate senior hiring leaders.
Full professional fluency in both Japanese and English.
High ownership, agency, and attention to detail in a 0 to 1, fast-changing environment.

Nice to Have

Experience helping to construct early go-to-market teams within new international markets.
Background in recruiting for frontier artificial intelligence, developer tools, cloud, infrastructure, or enterprise software firms.
Understanding of both commercial hiring and technical-adjacent go-to-market roles.
Experience collaborating directly with regional general managers, sales vice presidents, or founding country leaders.
Comfort balancing strategic talent mapping with hands-on execution while prioritizing exceptional quality.
