Role Overview

9fin is hiring a Forward Deployed Investor to partner with strategic buy-side clients in New York. In this capacity, you act as a domain expert who sits across from portfolio managers, private credit underwriters, and distressed analysts to integrate artificial intelligence directly into their investment processes. Every engagement serves as critical product intelligence, helping shape future product roadmaps while driving maximum platform adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Map end-to-end investment workflows across sourcing, screening, underwriting, and portfolio monitoring to identify high-value AI insertion points.
Build artificial intelligence capabilities directly into client workflows utilizing platform tools, model context protocol integrations, and specialized agents.
Onboard users, run enablement sessions for power users, monitor active platform usage, and lead monthly or quarterly reviews with key client sponsors.
Collect and channel structured field intelligence back to product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to influence future updates and case studies.
Identify expansion opportunities within accounts for new users, use cases, departments, or products, and hand them over to account management.

Requirements

Three or more years of practitioner experience at an asset manager, credit fund, or insurer with deep fluency in end-to-end investment workflows.
Direct background in areas such as credit portfolio management, high yield, leveraged loans, private credit, direct lending, CLO investing, or distressed and special situations.
Experience in buy-side transformation, data, or research technology functions focusing on artificial intelligence and workflow enhancements in credit investing.
Demonstrated interest in financial technology, including participation in internal working groups or prior evaluation of domain technology.
Hands-on familiarity with modern tooling such as Rogo, Hebbia, AlphaSense, or Octus.
Ability to operate discreetly within confidential investment processes while communicating effectively with both technical analysts and senior leadership.

Salary and Benefits

Annual salary range of $128,000 to $173,000 USD
