The Forward Deployed Engineer, Sovereign AI position at Cohere in Ottawa is a full-time remote-friendly engineering role focused on partnering with Canadian public sector organizations to build secure generative AI solutions. Key Responsibilities

Build and deliver new features for North, the specialized enterprise AI workspace platform.
Create autonomous agents capable of safely interacting with sensitive enterprise data.
Iterate rapidly while maintaining high quality to create customer solutions that exceed expectations.
Manage the entire product lifecycle, taking projects from initial conceptualization all through to production.
Direct end-to-end deployments of the North platform in private cloud and on-premises environments, handling everything from initial planning to rollout.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience and enthusiasm for collaborating directly with customers.
Extensive professional experience shipping production-level Python code.
Proven background in building and deploying high-performance client-side or server-side RAG and agentic applications.
Strong general coding abilities with the versatility to work across the full technology stack and troubleshoot outside the main codebase.
Ability to thrive in fast-paced settings where priorities and objectives frequently shift.
Eligibility for Active Top Secret security clearance, or willingness and eligibility to obtain it.
Proximity to government customers in Ottawa, with 20 to 40 percent travel anticipated.

Annual salary range between $175,000 and $385,000 CAD.
