About this role
Bridging the gap between complex infrastructure and enterprise adoption, this role addresses the challenge of helping businesses in Mexico successfully architect and ship production systems using Telnyx technologies. Operating as part of a local Enterprise Sales Pod in Mexico City, the engineer collaborates closely with an Enterprise Account Executive to lead technical discovery, design architectures, build proofs of concept, and drive production go-lives for voice, messaging, AI, and wireless workloads. Rather than delivering standard product demos, the focus centers on embedding directly with enterprise clients to build custom solutions and scale real-world use cases.
The successful candidate owns the technical side of the engagement from whiteboard to launch, operating as a self-sufficient builder who translates integration challenges into stable, observable systems. Ideal candidates combine software engineering expertise with strong customer-facing communication skills, fluent in both English and Spanish, to navigate high-stakes technical conversations, run discovery sessions, and address regulatory environments across Mexico and the LATAM region.
What you will do
- Embed directly with enterprise customers to understand communications workflows, AI use cases, and integration challenges firsthand.
- Build and deploy custom implementations including AI voice assistants, Telnyx APIs, and WebRTC solutions.
- Run open-weight large language models in customer environments or deploy self-hosted stacks behind serving engines when air-gapped requirements demand it.
- Deploy and operate LiteLLM as a model gateway in customer environments with routing, load balancing, retries, and fallbacks.
- Wire production observability for everything shipped using metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerting.
- Design model routing strategies for real-time voice workloads, balancing latency, cost, and quality.
- Adapt models to customer domains through prompt and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines for Spanish and English language use cases.
What you need
- Possess a computer science degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Bring at least three years of experience building and shipping production software that real users depend on.
- Demonstrate proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Python, Node.js or TypeScript, and Go.
- Maintain a practical understanding of production failure modes including provider rate limits, timeouts, streaming, and token accounting.
- Feel comfortable deploying containerized services on Kubernetes with proper secrets management and configuration.
- Show hands-on experience wiring observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Graylog, or ELK.
- Communicate fluently in both English and Spanish for whiteboard sessions, troubleshooting, and executive presentations.
- Be based in Mexico City, or willing to relocate, with legal authorization to work in Mexico or eligibility for sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI voice assistants, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, or LLM-based conversational systems
- Experience building evaluation sets for a specific domain
- Hands-on production experience with an LLM gateway such as LiteLLM, Portkey, or Kong AI Gateway
- Familiarity with the open-weight model landscape and related architectural trade-offs
