Role Overview

The Forward Deployed Engineer, Agentic Platform position at Cohere is a full-time remote role based in the United States, designed for software professionals with applied artificial intelligence experience. This position serves as a technical bridge between the core North AI workspace platform and client engineering teams to build production-grade AI agents.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate directly with enterprise clients to convert complex business challenges into defined agentic workflows featuring clear evaluation metrics.
Lead the architecture, creation, and release of language model powered agents that execute multi-step reasoning across tools, APIs, and enterprise data.
Develop and deliver features for the North platform across the entire product lifecycle from initial concept to live production.
Own use cases end-to-end, utilizing frontend or other required technical skills to implement effective solutions.
Design shared engineering patterns and frameworks to support consistent delivery standards across different client teams.
Travel between twenty and forty percent of the time to collaborate on-site with partners and enterprise customers.

Requirements

Demonstrated hands-on background creating and launching production-ready Python software with clean and scalable design.
Practical experience designing and implementing high-performing retrieval-augmented generation and agentic systems utilizing multi-step patterns.
Strong familiarity with the language model ecosystem, including frontier models, vector databases, and orchestration tools.
Proven ability to build evaluation frameworks measuring accuracy, safety, and latency.
Track record of working directly with clients and translating business needs into technical specifications.
Ability to excel in fast-paced, ambiguous settings while owning the full scope of use cases.

Nice to Have

Background establishing architectural standards for agentic systems across distributed teams.
Experience working in unfamiliar domains such as frontend development.
Prior exposure to regulated industries including healthcare, finance, or telecommunications.
Familiarity with auditability, compliance, and enterprise security needs for artificial intelligence systems.

Salary and Benefits

Annual salary range between 175,000 and 385,000 Canadian Dollars.
