Role Overview

Cohere is seeking an Engineering Manager to head up the Deployment Engineering group. This is an active management position where the leader rolls up their sleeves and drives direct impact. Working remotely across North America, the manager oversees a dedicated team of Forward Deployed Engineers who implement the North platform inside private cloud and on-premises setups.

Key Responsibilities

Guide, mentor, and support a team of Forward Deployed Engineers.
Manage the complete lifecycle of deploying the North platform in private cloud and on-premises client environments.
Own customer success milestones spanning technical implementation through final delivery.
Partner with Product, Engineering, and Sales divisions to refine enterprise AI delivery strategies.
Train team members on enterprise deployments, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure best practices.
Fine-tune performance metrics for databases, OpenSearch, and related Kubernetes services.
Establish clear scaling rules for CPU and GPU compute capacity.
Design scalable processes and technology to support rapid company growth.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience coupled with proven leadership capabilities.
Practical background in scaling and deploying enterprise software solutions.
Deep proficiency in cloud infrastructure platforms including AWS, GCP, and Azure.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Helm, and Kubernetes.
High agency mindset focused on solving challenges proactively without waiting for approval.
A results-driven attitude geared toward getting things done.
Prior experience leading engineers within fast-paced, high-growth settings.
Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Nice to Have

Proficiency in speaking additional European languages.
Background knowledge working with AI and machine learning infrastructure.
Experience dealing with enterprise security and compliance protocols.

Salary and Benefits

Annual salary range of $320,000 to $385,000 CAD.
Weekly lunch stipend of $75/£75 or local equivalent.
