Director, solutions architecture
About this role
Leading a team of solutions architects, you will drive customer adoption of WRITER's generative AI platform through use case discovery, proofs of concept, and value realization. You will act as an executive technical sponsor for strategic accounts, building trusted advisor relationships with C-level stakeholders while partnering with sales leadership on account planning and pipeline growth.
WRITER operates an end-to-end platform enabling enterprises to build and deploy AI agents grounded in their own data and powered by enterprise-grade LLMs. The director, solutions architecture exists to guide complex enterprise engagements, shape product roadmaps through customer feedback, and scale technical pre-sales operations. Candidates who excel in this position combine deep technical proficiency in machine learning with demonstrated management experience in high-growth technology environments.
What you will do
- Manage, mentor, and scale a team of solutions architects focused on complex enterprise AI engagements.
- Oversee key pre-sales technical engagements including use case discovery, proof-of-concept execution, and value realization.
- Partner with sales leadership to create strategic account plans and accelerate pipeline growth.
- Serve as an executive technical sponsor and trusted advisor for C-level stakeholders at strategic accounts.
- Collect market insights and customer feedback to directly influence the product roadmap.
- Design robust, scalable, and secure AI solutions that integrate with complex customer data ecosystems.
- Establish best practices and scalable processes for customer evaluations to demonstrate clear return on investment.
What you need
- Bring at least 8 years of total experience in a customer-facing technical role.
- Possess a minimum of 4 years in a management capacity leading a pre-sales or solutions architecture team in cloud, enterprise software, or AI.
- Demonstrate expertise in scaling a solutions architecture or sales engineering organization within a high-growth technology company.
- Show deep technical proficiency in generative AI, large language models, machine learning, and cloud-native architectures including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Maintain hands-on experience using Python or similar scripting languages.
- Understand data pipelines, model deployment, security, and compliance across large-scale enterprise environments.
- Communicate intricate technical concepts clearly to both executive and technical audiences.

What is the work location and remote policy for this role?
This is a full-time, hybrid role based out of the company hub in San Francisco, CA. The team also maintains office hubs in New York City, Austin, Chicago, and London.
What compensation is associated with the position?
The salary range is between $300K and $353K, and the position includes offers for equity. Additional financial perks include a 401k and competitive compensation.
Who does this role report to?
The director, solutions architecture reports directly to the VP of solutions architecture. You will also partner closely with sales leadership and go-to-market teams.
