Role Overview

The Director, Forward Deployed Engineering & AI GTM Lead at Aircall directs the technical execution, go-to-market strategies, and organizational adoption of the company's AI Communication Agent. Based out of the New York or San Francisco offices, this professional leads and scales the Forward Deployed Engineering group while remaining hands-on with client implementations. This position suits an entrepreneurial technical leader with a strong background in solutions engineering and artificial intelligence who wants to shape the future of voice automation.

Key Responsibilities

Direct, mentor, and expand the Forward Deployed Engineering team from its current size to twenty members by the end of 2026.
Maintain active involvement in strategic client engagements, offering technical oversight and high-level guidance.
Optimize AI go-to-market execution by establishing rigorous operating practices, pipeline hygiene, and forecasting accuracy.
Monitor team performance using data-driven metrics covering deployment quality, activity levels, and time-to-value.
Create repeatable deployment playbooks, reference architectures, and frameworks for complex customer implementations.
Collaborate across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Support to align priorities and accelerate AI product adoption.
Partner with product developers to translate real-world field feedback into future product roadmaps.

Requirements

Minimum of 7 years of background working in solutions engineering, technical sales, professional services, or forward-deployed engineering.
Prior experience managing people is strongly preferred for this leadership position.
Strong entrepreneurial mindset, with past experience as a startup founder considered a notable asset.
Solid technical foundation encompassing APIs, modern system architectures, and data-driven integrations.
Comfortable coding in at least one programming language.
Demonstrated ability to operate within overlay or specialist go-to-market frameworks.
Exceptional communication skills tailored for technical and business audiences alike.

Nice to Have

Background working directly with conversational AI, applied automation, or adjacent artificial intelligence domains.
Familiarity integrating systems with major CRMs, help desks, and System-of-Truth platforms.
