Role Overview

Scale AI is hiring a DevOps Engineer, Infrastructure & Security for the Public Sector Engineering department based in Washington, DC. This position suits an experienced professional with a background in automation and CI/CD who wants to advance secure development workflows for government systems.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain stable CI/CD pipelines for highside and lowside product deployments.
Partner with engineering teams to modify application code for smooth integration into automated pipelines.
Contribute to deployment system architecture to maximize efficiency and system reliability.
Investigate and fix complex deployment issues to keep development cycles moving.
Learn product and machine learning architectures to support seamless deployment workflows.
Write clear documentation for pipeline setups and processes to support team knowledge sharing.
Integrate security protocols directly into every phase of the CI/CD lifecycle.
Drive standardization and teamwork across product teams for a unified software development lifecycle.

Requirements

Hold an active TS/SCI clearance with the ability and willingness to upgrade to CI Poly.
Possess 2 to 3 years of professional experience as a DevOps Engineer, DevSecOps Engineer, or Software Engineer specializing in CI/CD.
Demonstrated success in creating or significantly improving CI/CD pipelines.
Experience adapting application code to work naturally within evolving CI/CD environments.
Practical background working with containerization and deployment tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
Familiarity with major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Proficiency in scripting languages and automation tools such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
Working knowledge of version control systems, software architecture, and system design.

Nice to Have

Practical experience using containerization platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.
Exposure to MLOps concepts and machine learning lifecycles.
Prior working experience within classified environments.

Salary and Benefits

The base salary range for full-time positions located in Washington, DC is $178,400 to $279,000 USD.
Eligible roles include equity-based compensation subject to board approval.
