Role Overview

Hebbia is seeking a Backend Engineer for its Agent Collaboration Platform team in New York. Key Responsibilities

Take complex requirements and convert them into robust, scaled solutions that address customer needs by owning critical system components.
Build and iterate on a high-scale document build system to unlock universal indexing with constant time latency regardless of data volume.
Architect and implement performance-tuning solutions to guarantee efficient system operation at scale, maximizing throughput and minimizing latency across millions of documents.
Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers to foster an environment of growth.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field, featuring coursework in software development, algorithms, and data structures.
Minimum of 5 years of software development experience focusing on backend engineering at a top technology firm or venture-backed startup.
Proficiency building API and backend systems utilizing technologies such as Java, Python, or Go.
Extensive hands-on experience using cloud platforms like AWS.
Practical working experience with one or more technologies including Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL, and ElasticSearch.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and project leadership skills with an ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
Autonomy, enthusiasm for rapid prototyping based on user feedback, and excitement for taking ownership of major initiatives.

Nice to Have

Experience creating LLM-enabled products or building agentic systems.
Regular use of AI products during the software development lifecycle, such as Claude Code or Cursor.
