As the Associate General Counsel, Privacy, Product & AI, the individual will function as a senior operator responsible for establishing and scaling the company's privacy and AI governance programs. This role requires a proactive approach to navigating a rapidly shifting regulatory landscape, where ambiguity is common. The successful candidate will be a true player-coach, capable of setting high-level program strategy while also managing daily operational tasks. This role exists to ensure the company can achieve safe, compliant growth as it deploys broader AI capabilities and expands its operational footprint.
What you will do
- The role involves owning the privacy program for both patient and payor data, encompassing HIPAA compliance, state privacy laws, BAA programs, data mapping, and incident response.
- The associate will own the AI governance program, which includes developing the responsible AI policy suite, managing the AI inventory, and overseeing the intake and review process for AI use cases.
- Responsibilities include setting the framework for AI use case review, risk tiering, and service level agreements for internal and product-facing AI tools.
- This role requires translating regulatory foresight into actionable program and product decisions rather than just producing documentation.
- The associate will manage the end-to-end BAA program, integrating vendor risk management and flow-downs for subcontractors.
- A key function is serving as the senior legal partner to Product, Engineering, Operations, and Clinical teams regarding privacy and AI implications of new features.
- The role also involves briefing the Executive team and Board on privacy and AI risk matters.
What you need
- Demonstrated experience in managing comprehensive privacy programs covering patient data and payor data is required.
- A strong background in developing and scaling AI governance programs, including policy suites and risk classification, is essential.
- The candidate must possess the ability to operate effectively in a high-tempo environment where regulatory requirements are constantly changing.
- Experience in setting regulatory change management strategy across federal and state privacy and AI law is necessary.
- Proficiency in translating complex legal analysis into practical product and operational decisions is a critical skill.
- The role demands a high degree of collaboration across diverse, cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
