About this role

Delivering clearly scoped technical implementations with international public-sector customers involves serving as a hands-on engineering partner to build applications on supported model APIs, Codex, and other approved OpenAI technologies. The Applied AI Engineering team works to enable the secure and impactful implementation of agentic solutions, partnering with government agencies, policymakers, and public institutions to establish generative AI strategies and identify high-value applications.

Shaping this function requires a solutions leader with a product mindset who can collaborate with regional sales, solutions engineering, global affairs, applied research, product, legal, and security teams. Professionals stepping into this position will design architectures with explicit data, inference, evaluation, and production-readiness boundaries while working alongside regional cloud providers, systems integrators, and implementation partners.

  • Manage relationships with customer and partner leadership to ensure successful deployment and scaling of applications.
  • Contribute to open-source developer and enterprise resources while sharing knowledge to scale the Applied AI Engineering function.
  • Validate, synthesize, and deliver high-signal feedback to internal product, engineering, and research teams.

  • Successfully lead generative AI or traditional machine learning implementations for government agencies in coordination with systems integrators.

  • Communicate effectively with cross-cultural audiences including public-sector executives, delivery partners, and legal stakeholders.
  • Possess industry programming experience in languages such as Python, Go, or TypeScript.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with strong prioritization skills and willingness to travel for customer delivery.
