Cognition is hiring a full-time Applied AI Engineer in Sydney to operationalize AI modernization for enterprise clients through the deployment of Devin. Role Overview

Applied AI Engineers act as the bridge between advanced technology and enterprise engineering teams. This position focuses on deploying Devin, integrating agentic workflows into daily shipping processes, and delivering measurable productivity gains. Beyond direct customer engagements, professionals in this function help shape the department by developing repeatable playbooks, digital learning content, and partner-driven enablement models designed to scale AI adoption globally.

Key Responsibilities

Embed directly with enterprise engineering teams to manage the complete adoption lifecycle of Devin.
Design and implement agentic workflows across QA, support, product, and data functions to maximize leverage.
Lead live interactive programs, such as workshops and pair programming sessions, for enterprise clients.
Assist customers with the installation, configuration, and optimization of Devin alongside tools like DeepWiki and MCP integrations.
Collaborate on live production challenges to showcase high-value usage patterns and accelerate client fluency in applied AI.
Measure and track productivity metrics, surface return on investment stories, and build business cases for account expansion.
Partner with leadership to turn field insights into structured playbooks, best practices, and shared enablement materials.

Requirements

Hold a degree in a STEM field or possess equivalent hands-on experience.
Bring a minimum of three years of professional experience as a software engineer, technical consultant, deployment strategist, forward-deployed engineer, or solutions engineer with coding proficiency in languages such as Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
Demonstrate a proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to varied audiences.
Show a track record of driving technical adoption and measurable impact within engineering organizations.
Possess strong commercial instincts to recognize how successful engagements drive account growth.
Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills alongside a capacity to learn and adapt rapidly.

Nice to Have

Experience leading developer enablement, platform adoption, or internal AI modernization initiatives with quantifiable before and after metrics.
Background in deploying or integrating LLM or agent-based systems in production environments.
Previous experience founding or working in early-stage startups where speed and autonomy were essential.
Passion for compounding team velocity through deliberate engineering outcomes.
