Apify is hiring an AI Engineer to build and shape the platform's advanced agentic ecosystem and MCP servers in Prague or remotely. This full-time role is ideal for an experienced developer with a background in LLMs who wants to tackle complex challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Role Overview

As an AI Engineer at Apify, the focus centers on building the future of autonomous agent integration and tool discovery. The position involves designing systems that allow tens of thousands of web tools to interact seamlessly with AI agents. Working within a small, autonomous team, this role offers complete end-to-end ownership over critical products and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain the Apify Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server to convert massive numbers of Actors into reliable agent-callable tools.
Keep the server updated with fast-evolving protocol standards, managing stateless transports, authorization hardening, and tool discovery.
Shape the runtime, tools, and user experience behind Apify AI for end-to-end task execution.
Enable autonomous agents to effortlessly discover and pay for Apify tools.
Design rigorous evaluation systems that convert production traces into tests and catch CI regressions.

Requirements

Three or more years of professional software development experience.
Strong backend development background using Node.js, TypeScript, or Python.
Practical experience building on top of Large Language Models, including handling tool call errors, context window limits, and agent behavior.
High curiosity, self-direction, and comfort working with loosely defined problems in a rapidly shifting technology landscape.
Familiarity with the Apify platform or a strong desire to learn and build developer-friendly tools.
Good English communication skills.
