The engineering team at Backbase is transitioning away from siloed roles to build T-shaped, AI-empowered web developers focused on user-centric banking solutions. As an Applied AI Software Engineer, you will build and deliver production-ready features for digital banking platforms, utilizing AI-driven tools and agentic workflows to accelerate code delivery, testing, and system integrations. This role exists to drive modern web engineering standards while integrating AI coding assistants and large language model workflows across the entire development lifecycle. What you will do
- Actively leverage AI coding assistants, LLM workflows, and automated tooling to accelerate feature development across user interfaces, backend services, and application programming interfaces.
- Deliver production-ready features for Backbase Digital Banking, ranging from Angular frontend components to backend microservice integrations.
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable TypeScript and Angular code utilizing Nx, RxJS, and the company design system.
- Design testable components, execute unit and integration test suites, and maintain strict standards for web accessibility, security, and performance.
- Collaborate autonomously within a cross-functional Scrum squad comprising user experience, quality assurance, and product managers to ship rapid product increments.
What you need
- Bring a minimum of three years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on modern web technologies.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience with Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, RxJS, HTML5, and SASS or CSS frameworks.
- Possess practical exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or LLM-driven testing and refactoring workflows.
- Show solid foundational knowledge of backend integrations, REST application programming interfaces, microservices, and continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines.
- Maintain excellent written and spoken English proficiency alongside strong collaboration skills suited for an agile, multidisciplinary environment.
