About this role
Backbase needs a Senior Applied AI Engineer for their central Engineering Ops group in Krakow to modernize the Android development experience and scale mobile delivery across R&D. The incoming engineer will solve the challenge of fragmented release infrastructure and slow workflows by migrating CI/CD pipelines, unifying release processes, and integrating AI coding tools into everyday tasks. Operating as a domain expert rather than working in an isolated squad, this person will establish multi-module library standards, design scalable architectures, and directly impact the daily routines of over 600 engineers.
Success in this role requires a systems-minded developer who combines deep Android expertise with practical experience using LLM-assisted tools to boost engineering efficiency. Candidates who excel here enjoy driving foundational technical changes, partnering with cross-functional pilot teams, and setting golden standards for runtime performance, security, and accessibility across a large global organization.

- Bring hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions alongside a strong commitment to test-driven development.
- Show practical familiarity with AI development tools, efficient prompt crafting, and model architectures that optimize mobile engineering workflows.
- Exhibit a systems mindset with a proven track record of evaluating technical changes and guiding senior peers through adoption.
