About this role

The Agent Experience Engineer role is based in San Francisco, CA or Toronto, ON on a hybrid schedule, and suits an independent engineer with strong shipping velocity who wants to build product experiences for AI agents. Firecrawl is hiring this position to own how artificial intelligence agents discover, understand, and use its web data infrastructure.

Role Overview

Firecrawl seeks a high-agency, product-minded engineer with experimental and data instincts. This position focuses on scientific product development rather than pure research, requiring the candidate to form hypotheses, execute rigorous experiments, analyze results, and rapidly ship improvements for non-human users. The candidate will operate within a fast-moving team building infrastructure for superintelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Design and ship A/B tests across agent-facing surfaces like MCPs, CLIs, skills, APIs, and documentation.
Translate experiment outcomes rapidly into shipped product enhancements.
Monitor emerging AI tools, models, and harnesses such as Hermes and OpenClaw.
Form and test hypotheses regarding how agents discover, interpret, and choose tools and capabilities in production.
Manage problems end-to-end from initial question to deployed solution.
Apply scientific rigor to product development without turning tasks into research projects.

Requirements

Proven track record of shipping high-quality products quickly.
Comfort designing A/B tests, reviewing behavioral data, and acting on insights.
Familiarity with agent-facing surfaces including MCPs, CLIs, skills, APIs, and documentation.
Active engagement with emerging AI tools, models, and harnesses.
Genuine curiosity regarding agent tool selection and capability interpretation.
High agency and ability to operate independently without an established playbook.
Experience as an ex-founder, early startup engineer, prolific open-source contributor, or creator of impressive public work.
Must have authorization to work in the United States or Canada.
