About this role

Professionals who thrive in ambiguous environments and possess a strong interest in the artificial intelligence landscape will find this position well-suited to their career goals. OpenAI seeks an Account Associate to join the Enterprise Go-To-Market team in San Francisco, serving as a foundational launchpad for future enterprise sellers.

The chosen candidate will work alongside Account Directors to identify, shape, and advance complex opportunities by turning early product usage, pilots, and inbound demand into qualified enterprise prospects. Responsibilities include designing targeted outbound strategies, leading discovery sessions, and building AI-enabled go-to-market workflows to scale prospecting across regulated industries such as financial services, life sciences, and retail.

This role exists to bridge the gap between technical curiosity and executive engagement, turning momentum from developers and pilots into durable, enterprise-wide deployments. Individuals who excel here demonstrate strong communication skills, a background in professional sales or strategic customer-facing roles, and the ability to connect advanced technology to real business outcomes.

What you will do

  • Partner closely with Account Directors to manage account strategy, multi-threading, and overall deal progression.
  • Design and execute targeted outbound strategies using industry context, stakeholder mapping, and product signals to break into priority accounts.
  • Lead high-quality discovery conversations to uncover business priorities, map stakeholders, and assess enterprise readiness.
  • Contribute directly to pipeline reviews by sharing outbound activity, account insights, and early competitive signals.
  • Build and iterate on AI-enabled go-to-market workflows, including custom GPTs and agents, to scale prospecting and qualification efforts.

What you need

  • Possess one to three or more years of relevant experience in enterprise sales or strategic customer-facing roles within the finance or consulting industry.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of consistently hitting and exceeding ambitious targets in enterprise or strategic sales environments.
  • Bring previous experience selling into regulated or complex industries such as financial services, life sciences, or retail.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and executive presence to build credibility with senior C-suite stakeholders and speak fluently with technical buyers.
  • Show a strong interest in the AI landscape with the ability to connect OpenAI products to real customer value and business outcomes.
  • Demonstrate comfort with ambiguity, the ability to move quickly, and a high degree of personal ownership.
