Role Overview

The Elastic IT division is seeking a UX and Front End Engineer to create the next generation of artificial intelligence and agentic workflows. This role connects backend AI services with responsive, accessible user interfaces that boost enterprise productivity. The professional will collaborate closely with product teams, designers, and AI engineers to shape how internal users interact with machine learning models and data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Translate complex generative and agentic AI processes into intuitive, responsive, and engaging front-end interfaces.
Design, build, and maintain scalable, accessible, and reusable UI component libraries for generative AI interactions using React and TypeScript.
Prototype and implement novel interaction patterns for conversational AI, agent execution visibility, prompt systems, and rich dynamic outputs.
Optimize UI performance for real-time AI responses, managing token streaming latency, async state management, and optimistic UI updates.
Connect front-end interfaces to internal services, including Retrieval Augmented Generation endpoints, Elasticsearch Relevance Engine, and agent orchestration APIs.
Partner with UX designers, product managers, and AI backend engineers to iteratively test and refine AI workflows based on real user feedback.
Ensure all front-end interfaces strictly adhere to web accessibility standards and align with the core design system.
Implement front-end tracking to monitor user satisfaction, prompt effectiveness, interaction latency, and interface usability.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for UI component systems, front-end architecture, and design pattern guidelines.

Requirements

Recent experience creating user interfaces for generative AI applications, including conversational interfaces, dynamic prompt builders, and complex agent workflows.
Deep expertise in TypeScript, JavaScript, React, HTML5, and CSS/Sass, with an emphasis on modular architecture.
Experience managing complex asynchronous UI state, WebSockets, and Server-Sent Events for streaming large language model responses.
Proficient background or active practice in user experience design, wireframing, design systems, and rapid prototyping.
Desire to learn and leverage the Elasticsearch Relevance Engine, Elastic UI, and the broader Elastic ecosystem.
Experience integrating front-end systems with AI and large language model backend services and orchestration tools like LangGraph, REST, and GraphQL APIs.
Experience extending and contributing to enterprise design systems and component documentation tools such as Storybook.
Knowledge of web performance optimization techniques, cross-browser compatibility, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
Hands-on experience with modern design and handoff tools like Figma.
