Role Overview

Ironclad is hiring a Technical Lead Manager for the AI Platform team in San Francisco. The role requires leading a group of engineers while writing production code, creating design documents, and establishing technical direction for generative AI contracting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and grow a team of engineers while balancing people support with hands-on technical contributions.
Own the technical roadmap, system quality bar, and business outcomes in partnership with product management.
Write design documents, drive architectural choices, and write production code for high-leverage or high-risk tasks.
Review design decisions, unblock engineers, and manage prioritization across competing demands.
Establish engineering standards covering code quality, testing, eval-driven development, and production monitoring.
Hire, mentor, and manage performance and career development for direct reports.

Requirements

Proven experience leading engineering teams as a manager and shipping production systems.
Strong technical background in generative AI and LLM-based systems to provide depth and direction.
Ability to work directly as an individual contributor on designs and implementation solutions.
Experience operating production machine learning and LLM systems, including eval-driven development, monitoring, and staged rollouts.
Background in at least one area including natural language processing, document understanding, search or retrieval, agent frameworks, or LLM training infrastructure.
Track record of hiring, mentoring, and growing engineers with experience navigating leveling conversations.
Strong cross-functional partnership skills for setting technical roadmaps with leadership and product teams.

Nice to Have

Experience scaling an engineering team through a significant architectural transition.
Familiarity with canary rollouts for machine learning and LLM systems.

Salary and Benefits

The base salary range is $188K to $235K, complemented by equity offers and bonuses.
