About this role

Hinge Health is hiring a remote-friendly Staff Software Engineer to join the Growth team and scale the programs that bring new members into the platform. This full-time position suits an experienced technologist with a background in full-stack development, incentive systems, and personalization infrastructure.

Role Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Growth team, you will take ownership of the member-to-member referral program from end to end. This includes designing incentive mechanics, referral flows, and personalization systems that motivate existing members to refer family and colleagues. You will operate in a high-ownership role where you set technical direction, partner with product and data science, and directly influence business outcomes like referral conversion, cost-per-acquisition, and incremental bookings.

Key Responsibilities

Own the technical roadmap and direction for the member referral platform across frontend experiences, backend services, and data pipelines.
Scale incentive and referral systems to handle growing member volume without degrading the user experience or conversion rates.
Integrate machine learning model outputs, such as personalized offers, targeting signals, and propensity scores, into referral surfaces.
Design, instrument, and analyze A/B experiments alongside the data science team to close the feedback loop between model performance and product outcomes.
Partner closely with product, design, and analytics teams to balance short-term wins with long-term architectural leverage.
Raise the engineering bar by driving system design standards, code quality, and technical decision-making.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or foreign equivalent.
At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful work on production systems at scale.
Hands-on background building and operating full-stack applications using technologies like React, React Native, Node.js, and TypeScript.
Track record of designing systems that shift user behavior through incentives, rewards, or social mechanics.
Experience operationalizing machine learning pipelines, model serving, and A/B testing infrastructure.

Nice to Have

Depth in modern web and service technologies such as NestJS, GraphQL, relational and non-relational databases, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and Redis.
Experience working at a consumer growth-focused company, marketplace, e-commerce platform, or consumer app.
Background working in healthcare or other regulated-data environments.

Salary and Benefits
