About this role

Breeze is currently seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the engineering team in Singapore. This hands-on role suits an experienced technical leader who wants to scale core payments infrastructure and shape architectural direction.

Role Overview

Breeze is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to help build and scale the technology at the heart of the company's payments platform. This is a hands-on position offering real ownership and technical influence within the engineering team. The professional in this role will take on complex engineering challenges, build secure and reliable systems that move money, and partner closely with Product and Design teams. Responsibilities include setting architectural direction, raising the engineering bar, guiding technical decisions, and building foundational systems for future company growth.

Key Responsibilities

Build and scale the systems powering Breeze with a strict focus on reliability, security, and performance across the payments platform.
Own critical systems end to end, spanning architecture, technical design, development, launch, and ongoing iteration.
Develop across the full tech stack using React and TypeScript on the frontend, Node.js and TypeScript on the backend, and modern serverless infrastructure.
Shape technical direction by making architectural decisions and establishing engineering standards as the company scales.
Bring a strong product mindset to engineering, transforming complex problems into simple, high-quality customer experiences.
Raise the engineering bar through active technical leadership, mentorship, and collaboration.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
9+ years of professional software engineering experience building complex, high-impact systems within fintech, payments, or fast-paced startup environments.
Strong full-stack engineering expertise with deep proficiency in modern backend development.
Demonstrated track record of owning complex systems end to end and making high-impact architectural and technical decisions.
Deep understanding of building scalable, reliable, and secure systems using cloud-based or serverless infrastructure.
Strong product intuition and passion for user-centric solutions.
Ability to influence engineering direction, raise standards, and mentor peers while remaining highly hands-on.
Exceptional communication skills for cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Product, and Design.
A builder mentality characterized by ownership, adaptability, and a bias toward action.
