About this role
Engineers who enjoy defining greenfield product areas while remaining hands-on with architecture and implementation will thrive in this environment. Joining the Money team at Replit, this staff-level contributor shapes Agentic Ads, an emerging product initiative that applies artificial intelligence to customer acquisition for applications built on the platform. Rather than building real-time bidding engines or ad-serving infrastructure, the focus centers on intelligent, advertiser-facing software that bridges business growth, measurement, and trustworthy automation.
Operating across product, design, and engineering, the person in this role sets technical direction and translates complex customer requirements into reliable architectures. Responsibilities include designing durable workflows, establishing financial safeguards, and building agent-powered experiences that help businesses make informed growth decisions. Success requires balancing rapid learning with long-term reliability while mentoring engineers and maintaining hands-on ownership from prototyping through production operation.
What you will do
- Establish technical direction for Agentic Ads by translating user needs into a scalable architecture and roadmap.
- Develop agent-powered features that convert user goals into clear recommendations and authorized actions.
- Create extensible integrations with external services using robust APIs and abstractions.
- Collaborate with product and data departments to implement reliable measurement and handle data uncertainty.
- Implement intelligent automation that learns from performance signals while respecting user constraints.
- Embed financial controls into the product including budget limits, explicit approvals, and auditable decisions.
- Ensure cross-platform workflows handle partial failures, rate limits, and retries safely.
What you need
- Demonstrated background in Staff-level technical leadership for complex customer-facing platforms across multiple teams.
- Deep hands-on software engineering capabilities spanning APIs, data modeling, distributed systems, and asynchronous workflows.
- Proven experience operating third-party integrations that remain resilient under partial failures and rate limits.
- Practical history of launching LLM-driven products or agentic workflows with proper tool use and safeguards.
- Solid data judgment regarding measurement, instrumentation, delayed feedback, and probabilistic outcomes.
- Thorough understanding of authentication, authorization, and boundaries for actions taken on behalf of users.
- Track record of aligning cross-functional partners and guiding engineers without direct reporting authority.
Nice to have
- Experience building advertiser-facing products, marketing automation, or campaign-management tools
- Familiarity with advertising or marketing APIs, account onboarding, and campaign lifecycles
- Working knowledge of conversion tracking, attribution, and return on ad spend metrics
- Background in experimentation, incrementality measurement, or decision-making under uncertainty
- Experience building permissioned, multi-tenant products with budget controls and audit trails
