The Staff Software Engineer role at Hinge Health is a hands-on technical position based out of the Bengaluru headquarters with hybrid work arrangements. Key Responsibilities

Deliver large software projects that introduce new product capabilities and act as a maintainer for key code repositories.

Break down complex technical problems into manageable tasks to ensure steady delivery and resolve root causes of incidents.

Collaborate on roadmaps and execute technical strategies while balancing short-term and long-term trade-offs.

Mentor and support junior engineers by providing thoughtful code reviews and real-time pairing sessions.

Integrate and leverage AI technologies to automate processes and enhance platform features.

Improve maintainability, availability, and performance of team features alongside developer tooling.

Communicate technical ideas clearly to technical and non-technical partners while documenting solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

At least 10 years of non-internship full-time professional software development experience.

Minimum of 4 years of experience with at least one software programming language and the full software development life cycle.

At least 3 years of work experience with React JS and Node JS or TypeScript.

Minimum of 1 year of experience mentoring and leading junior team members while collaborating cross-functionally.

Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, LangChain, and LangGraph.

Demonstrated success in delivering large software projects or features in a production environment.

Proficiency in modern programming languages like Python, Java, or JavaScript.

Nice to Have

Experience with a platform-as-product mindset, backend distributed-systems fundamentals, and generative AI integrations.

Knowledge of SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, telemetry, observability, cache design, and database performance KPIs.

Familiarity with headless CMS integrations, webhook-driven systems, durable workflow orchestration like Temporal, or media processing tools.

Experience with event streaming via Kafka, CI/CD automation with GitHub Actions, and working in regulated or healthcare environments.
