Role Overview

Operating as a specialized technical leader, the Staff Software Engineer works closely with the CTO outside traditional engineering boundaries. This role involves exploring new technology frontiers, solving high-level problems, and ideating on fresh product capabilities. The person in this position will drive rapid prototyping, manage complex technical projects, and help the broader engineering team navigate difficult technical obstacles.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a specialized engineer to identify product opportunities, research solutions, and quickly build prototypes to validate feasibility.
Take ownership of responsibilities beyond coding, such as managing complex technical projects, writing technical abstracts, and guiding the engineering team.
Work directly with leadership to solve high-level challenges and explore new product capabilities.
Master existing systems while maintaining the agility to learn new concepts quickly and integrate new technologies efficiently.
Engage with customers occasionally to understand deep technical needs and translate them into engineering solutions.

Requirements

Bring 3+ years of deep technical experience with Kubernetes and GoLang.
Show comfort in diving into the internals of cloud-native infrastructure.
Demonstrate high autonomy as a self-starter who handles complex issues without hand-holding and manages personal time and priorities effectively.
Possess experience extending beyond writing software, including an understanding of product development, project management, and technical communication.
Exhibit rapid learning agility with an enjoyment for picking up new tools, languages, and architectural concepts on the fly.

Nice to Have

Deep understanding of cloud-native containers and the broader ecosystem.
Prior startup experience with significant technical influence on product shaping.
Experience writing technical content like blog posts, white papers, or abstracts.
Background in Platform Engineering or building internal developer platforms (IDPs).
