Daily responsibilities center on ensuring infrastructure scalability and performance by bridging development and operations. Team members design observability solutions, lead incident responses, automate manual tasks, and optimize Kubernetes deployments on Google Cloud Platform using Python and Go.
The role exists to maintain high availability and drive architectural improvements as the platform expands. Ideal candidates bring extensive background in distributed systems and a commitment to embedding reliability across engineering culture.
What you will do
- Design and build comprehensive monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions to provide real-time system visibility.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to establish and track Service Level Objectives and Indicators.
- Guide teams to rapid resolution during high-impact incidents and conduct thorough blameless post-mortems.
- Architect infrastructure automation and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
- Partner with core infrastructure groups to optimize large-scale cloud deployments on Kubernetes and Docker.
- Write high-quality, well-tested code in Python or Go for internal tooling and vendor integrations.
- Mentor engineers across all levels to foster a strong internal reliability culture.
What you need
- Accumulate 8 to 10 years of professional background in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Demonstrate strong programming skills in languages such as Python or Go with a habit of writing well-tested code.
- Possess a deep understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architectures at scale.
- Bring substantial hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms, specifically Kubernetes.
- Show a proven track record of implementing sophisticated monitoring, logging, and metrics solutions.
- Exhibit strong incident management skills and composure during complex system events.
- Utilize infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or Pulumi for system automation.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly while collaborating closely with peers and mentors.
Nice to have
- Deep experience with Google Cloud Platform services and tools
- Expert-level knowledge of modern observability platforms like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry
- Experience designing and building reliable systems for high throughput and low latency
- Significant background with Go and Terraform
- Familiarity with rapid-growth, startup environments
