Role Overview

Lambda operates a usage-based GPU cloud at significant scale, relying on a robust billing platform as the system of record. Metering a massive GPU fleet combines complex distributed systems challenges with intricate product requirements where absolute financial accuracy is mandatory. As the Staff Product Manager for Billing, the individual will own the complete monetization surface. This involves collaborating closely with finance on revenue correctness, partnering with platform engineering on metering pipelines, and aligning with go-to-market teams regarding pricing transparency.

Key Responsibilities

Define product requirements for per-minute usage metering across the on-demand GPU fleet, ensuring strict accuracy standards and reliable edge-case handling.
Build billing solutions that seamlessly support both self-serve per-minute customers and sales-led committed contracts for large clusters.
Treat billing accuracy as a core product requirement, driving audit and reconciliation mechanisms with finance and engineering teams.
Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of credits, invoicing, generation, delivery, and dispute resolution.
Collaborate with finance and go-to-market teams to ensure rapid deployment of new pricing updates, instance types, and contract structures.
Extend billing capabilities through the public API so customers can programmatically pull spend data.
Productize dimensions in commerce such as fraud detection, bad debt management, and threshold alarming.

Requirements

Bring seven or more years of product management experience, including at least two years working on technical products, infrastructure, or platforms.
Demonstrate the ability to translate usage data, support tickets, and revenue reports into actionable product strategies.
Possess strong influence skills to earn buy-in from cross-functional stakeholders including engineers, designers, and executives without relying on positional authority.
Show a proven track record of taking products from vague concepts through successful launch and iteration.
Understand distributed systems concepts essential for billing correctness, such as event pipelines, idempotency, and reconciliation.
Communicate fluently with finance stakeholders regarding revenue recognition, audits, and invoicing requirements.

Nice to Have

Prior experience building monetization, billing, or metering platforms, particularly for usage-based pricing models.
Background in payments or fintech where correctness carries regulatory and financial weight.
Experience working on cloud cost management or spend visibility tools.
Familiarity with AI infrastructure or GPU clouds and customer consumption patterns.
Fluency in SQL or related data analysis tools.
