Role Overview

The Senior Workday Architect role at Lambda is a hands-on configuration position based out of the San Francisco office with a hybrid schedule. This opportunity is tailored for an experienced professional ready to lead the transition of internal systems from Rippling to Workday as the primary HRIS.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the functional implementation of Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence modules within Workday, driving design sessions, configuration, and tenant testing.
Configure and maintain US and Canada payroll functions including pay groups, tax setups, garnishments, and year-end processes.
Manage international payroll operations and integrations between Workday and global payroll providers.
Set up Time Tracking rules for hourly and non-exempt workers, covering work schedules, calculations, and break compliance.
Build and maintain Absence plans such as flexible PTO, sick leave accruals, and statutory leave rules.
Oversee payroll-adjacent integrations and ensure data consistency across Workday, payroll results, and the general ledger.
Partner with Payroll Operations and Accounting during every payroll cycle for audits, retro calculations, and root-cause analysis.
Design security and processes to comply with SOX ITGC and payroll controls.
Assess Workday semi-annual releases and conduct regression testing.
Document processes, train staff, and build self-service reports and dashboards.

Requirements

10+ years of professional experience in HRIS or payroll systems.
At least 6+ years of hands-on configuration experience specifically within Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence.
Proven track record of taking at least one Workday Payroll implementation live as the functional lead.
Strong expertise in US payroll fundamentals, multi-state taxation, FLSA, and wage and hour regulations.
Experience operating within SOX or audit-facing environments with strict controls.
Ability to work from the San Francisco or San Jose office location four days per week.

Nice to Have

Experience configuring Workday HCM, Benefits, and Compensation modules.
Previous experience migrating platforms from Rippling to Workday.
Workday Pro certifications in Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence, or Integrations.
Familiarity with international payroll providers like ADP Celergo, CloudPay, Papaya Global, Deel, or employer-of-record arrangements.
Exposure to the company technology stack including NetSuite, Okta, Lumos, Workato, and BigQuery.
IPO readiness background, equity compensation processing, and familiarity with AI testing tools.
