Role Overview

Kong is expanding its AI Management product team in Milan to support its rapidly growing AI connectivity solutions. As the product owner for key agentic AI management and infrastructure products, this individual will drive feature definition and delivery. The role involves close collaboration with a globally distributed research and development team, reporting directly to the Director and Head of AI Products.

Key Responsibilities

Own the product direction for modules that connect, govern, supervise, and optimize agentic AI, including models, context, guardrails, evaluation, and policies.
Define requirements, author specifications, prioritize the product backlog, and collaborate with engineering to drive feature delivery.
Drive cross-product infrastructure work by connecting AI Management modules to the broader platform and coordinating shared roadmaps.
Own a structured product roadmap, balancing new feature development with technical debt and platform dependencies.
Communicate as the bridge between engineering, design, product marketing, and leadership to maintain stakeholder alignment.
Support regional field activities such as customer-facing calls, sales enablement, and product marketing input.

Requirements

Possess 7 to 10 years of product management experience with a history of owning and shipping technical products in agentic AI, infrastructure, or developer tools.
Demonstrated ability to drive product delivery across distributed teams and time zones without direct authority.
Strong skill in translating ambiguous technical challenges into clear product requirements and actionable engineering specifications.
Proactive communication skills for engaging with stakeholders across multiple functions and seniority levels.
Solid project management instincts to track work, surface blockers, and maintain roadmap progress.
Comfort engaging with technical depth such as transport protocols, request routing, data plane architecture, and infrastructure trade-offs.

Nice to Have

Direct experience with agentic AI development and products, including AI agents, AI gateways, LLM routing, AI observability, prompt management, and MCP servers.
Familiarity with enterprise platform engineering and infrastructure, covering data planes, control planes, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures.
